ABOUT ME
Manuela is a Colombian multidisciplinary artist, muralist, sculptor and facilitator based in Gadigal Land (Sydney)
Her artwork is a journey deeply intertwined with her South-American roots, an exploration of the self, belonging, memory, and the play of consciousness in everyday objects.
Working mainly with clay she creates bodacious, otherworldly pieces that seem to come to life, looking back at you. The insinuation that nature, and the objects we surround ourselves with, have an energy and consciousness beyond us. Each piece an attempt to frame elusive moments and embodying her own approach to life; playful, curious, ever aware and evolving.
She can usually be found working in her studio or teaching workshops focused on empowerment, embodiment, and mindful creation in painting, drawing, and ceramics, bringing communities together to create mindfully and connect.
When not working with clay she creates colourful murals and designs for festivals, venues, and collectives, or collaborating in social and environmentally conscious murals and projects with neighbourhood organisations and facilitators in their efforts to bring communities together through the creation process.
After specialising in ceramics and painting at Concordia University in Montréal for a double major in Fine Arts and Art History, she's also found herself dabbling in printmaking, jewellery, metalwork, papier maché, stained glass, bronze casting and even ice carving throughout her short but exciting career.
She's always on the lookout for new materials to incorporate into her work and the possibility of fruitful collaborations!
Say hi and lets create some magic together!
